Why yoga and pilates?

I'm originally from Vancouver, Canada but have been fortunate enough to live abroad in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and China for my dance career. I was introduced to a little bit of yoga and pilates through my home dance studio which probably sparked a curiosity in me. But It wasn't until I made the "big move" to Los Angeles to pursue my career in 2012, that my love and curiosity for yoga intensified. With such a highly competitive industry, I needed something to help me spiritually and yoga provided a safe space for me where I could tune in and find a sense of grounding. Like a lot of high demand sports, having a dance career takes also takes a toll on your body over time, so it was important for me to have a cross training routine that provided some balance both physically and mentally.

My most recent contract ended and I came home for the first time in years near the end of 2019. I finally had the time and decided to complete my 200 hour certification with YYOGA (Vancouver, Canada), focusing on hatha, power, and flow. I’m also certified in yin yoga and pilates.

I enjoy adding different movement modalities to my skill set and in turn, can share my knowledge and passion with the community.

Yin (60 min)

A variety of long held poses, breathing techniques, and relaxation techniques are used. This is a more yin and passive practice.

Yoga and Pilates Fusion (60 min)

This is a blend of Yoga and Pilates. Every class targets strength, range of motion, alignment, spinal mobility, flexibility, core conditioning, recovery, as well as a deep awareness in one’s personal structure and breath. We usually start with a breath and meditation then move on to strength and stability and then strategically open the body.

Mat Pilates

Starts with a short meditation and pilates breath work to integrate deeper abdominal connection then moves on to strengthening and stabilizing exercises using Pilates movements. This may include the use of props such as bands, balls, sliders, etc.
